Augustine Volcano of Alaska erupted on March 27th, 1986 and produced this black cloud which moved over Homer, Alaska. In this image you can see the Homer Spit jutting into Kachemak Bay. Just after this image was taken, volcanic ash began to fall so heavily on the Spit, that it looked like fog.
