Below are some images of the 1986 Mt. Augustine eruption. These were produced from old prints, which I scanned into digital files. The first four are shots looking over Kachemak Bay as the very black volcanic cloud quickly moved in from the west over Homer, Alaska, during the initial violent eruption on March 27th. My wife used an old film camera and the prints were stored in a box and had been damaged. I used the Photomerge option in Photoshop CS2 to see if I could produce a panorama, seen in the fifth image, which only partially worked. I then used the "healing brush" and the "clone tool" in CS2 to clean it up to produce the sixth image. I wanted to try to convey a sense of just how big and black this cloud was. The second set of images were also scanned from old prints which were taken by my father in Anchor Point, 15 miles north of Homer. These ominous looking clouds covered the lower Kenai Peninsula. These images are for interest, and are not primarily for sale, but if you want to purchase any of them, e-mail me and I will provide them.
